The people of Nepal have traditionally held a deep love for Mount Everest. Chomolungma, the most often used Tibetan name, translates to "Goddess Mother of the World" or "Goddess of the Valley." "Peak of Heaven" is how the Sanskrit or Nepali name "Sagarmatha" is literally translated. It was not until 1852 that its status as the highest point on Earth's surface was acknowledged. In 1852, the government's Survey of the country made the revelation. Named after Sir George Everest, the British surveyor general of Nepal from 1830 to 1843, Peak XV was renamed as Mount Everest in 1865. The Mahalangur range, which is the longest Himalayan range in Nepal, includes Mount Everest.

Overview

It is located in the Solukhumbu District in the Eastern Development Region of Nepal, at an elevation of 8,848 meters (29,031.7 feet), in the Khumjung Village Development Committee under the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality. Trips are welcome to go there. To reach the summit, it takes about 84 days.

In July, the coldest month, summit temperatures average −33 °F (−36 °C) and may fall as low as −76 °F (−60 °C). In January, the warmest month, peak temperatures are only approximately −2 °F (−19 °C). Temperatures can drop suddenly, and storms might appear out of somewhere.
